This Honors course in United States History provides students who are preparing for college level study the analytical skills to deal with chronological themes and problems in United States history. The Honors program prepares students for introductory courses in U.S. History at the college level. Student are given the opportunity to learn, to analyze primary sources, evaluate their significance, compare and contrast historical interpretations and prepare a research paper with primary and secondary sources. Students are expected to engage in complex historical thinking, analysis and discussion.
Students will receive many opportunities to fulfill their PBGR requirements throughout this class. The various tasks assigned in this class will meet many of the Lincoln High School graduation expectations but ultimately it is the student’s responsibility to ensure that all PBGR requirements are met.
You will be required to use a variety of acquired skills to demonstrate your understanding of major ideas, historical eras, social studies themes, and turning points in history. You will reinforce your reading comprehension skills and writing skills through analyzing primary source documents, reading maps and public speaking. I will be there to help you with these skills.
